Tenneco earnings dropped 73% to $46 million for the second quarter. Last year’s figures included $27 million from discontinued operations, the Houston company said. Improving oil prices and continuing strong performances by a number of its non-energy businesses made significant contributions to earnings, the company said, noting, however, that declining natural gas prices had affected overall earnings. Pipeline earnings also were down.
