A Lynwood city councilman and his wife were robbed in a supermarket parking lot by a man who stole the wife’s purse, Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputies said. Councilman E. L. Morris and his wife, Margaret, were walking into the Alpha Beta market at 3581 Century Blvd. when the robber, believed to be 17 to 20 years old, pushed Morris out of the way and grabbed his wife’s purse before jumping into an older model white and gold Cadillac parked across the street, Sheriff’s Deputy Dan Cox said. Two other men were seen in the car. Neither Morris nor his wife was injured. Deputies said it was not known how much money was stolen or whether the robber was armed.
