Peter Gabriel, Sting and Bryan Adams have agreed to participate in a six- to seven-week world tour in the summer of 1988 in support of Amnesty International, the human rights organization. Jack Haley, executive director of the American chapter of the group, said Tuesday at a New Music Seminar panel discussion in New York. Haley said the tour--expected to begin in late August, 1988, in Oslo--will include concerts on every continent and involve a “traveling community of musicians” patterned after the “Conspiracy of Hope” tour sponsored last year by the organization. Gabriel also participated in the panel discussion, which probed the relationship between rock music and social issues. Other musicians who took part in last year’s tour--including U2 and Lou Reed--are expected to participate in certain shows next year, but not all of them.
