Sheldon A. McHenry, founder-owner of the famous Tail O’ the Cock restaurants, died early today in his West Los Angeles home of pneumonia, his attorney announced. He was 77.
The Tail O’ the Cock located in Studio City closed after 40 years in January to make way for a shopping mall. During its heyday, the upscale eatery was frequently the place where stars such as Ronald Reagan, Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton took their lunch breaks while working on movies at nearby studios. McHenry sold his Tail O’ the Cock on La Cienega Boulevard’s Restaurant Row in 1982, and it was closed in February, 1985.
