An Iranian diplomat suffered serious head and eye injuries in Madrid when a bomb ripped through his official car as he was leaving for work, a spokesman for his embassy in Spain said. Mohammed Raisi, second secretary at the embassy, “had a suspicion something was wrong,” got out of his car and spotted the bomb underneath it but was unable to escape before it went off, the spokesman said. A passer-by was slightly injured. There was no immediate claim of responsibility for the attack. However, the official Iranian news agency said opposition Moujahedeen guerrillas and Iraqi agents are prime suspects. Iran is at war with Iraq.
