Local News in Brief : Pedestrian Hit by Car, Killed in N. Hollywood

A North Hollywood man was struck by a car and killed Sunday night while crossing a North Hollywood street, police said.
Salvador Pacheco, 43, was crossing Vanowen Street near Hinds Avenue about 9 p.m. when an Oldsmobile driven by Salvador Terrones, 63, of Van Nuys, struck him, Los Angeles Police Officer Jack Hosford said.
Terrones was not arrested because it was unclear if Pacheco had been jaywalking or crossing at a corner, Hosford said.
The officer said four witnesses disagreed on whether Terrones had been speeding and where exactly Pacheco had crossed. An investigation is continuing.
