Fire Kills 4 Prison Inmates in Italy

MILAN, Italy — A fire in a cell apparently set by inmates killed four prisoners Sunday at San Vittore Prison, authorities said.
Prison officials said firefighters could not enter the blazing cell because the door was barricaded with furniture.
Ahmed Said, 28, of Cairo, and Adel Mithali, 24, of Tunis, were pronounced dead on arrival at a hospital, and their cellmates, who were not identified, were dead when firefighters entered the cell, said officials.
Officials, who demanded anonymity, said Said tried to burn a mattress last week at another prison where he was taken for a pretrial hearing.
