Factory-Home Project to Be Built in Orange

Silvercrest Corp. of Santa Ana, in joint venture with Watt Pacific Inc. of Santa Monica, plans to develop a $70-million, 100-acre manufactured-home community in Orange, on the site of the Conrock crushing plant being acquired from CalMat Properties Co., half a mile east of the Newport Freeway, off Chapman and Prospect avenues.
Richard Simonian, president of Silvercrest, said about 400 of the planned 900 homes will be rentals ($375 to $475 a month) for senior citizens. The units will have one and two bedrooms, containing from 450 to 650 square feet. Other homes will contain up to 1,800 square feet.
The development will be the third of its kind in Orange County built during the past eight years, Simonian said. Silvercrest will own 25% of the project and will supply all of the manufactured units.
