Pop diva Cyndi Lauper on the physicality of singing rock ‘n’ roll: “No matter how strong you sing, when you’re dealing with your body, you always feel like, ‘Gosh, if I did those push-ups, or if I had lifted those weights, I could have done this little move and held the note and then come right back.’ It’s physical strength. It’s the daily ritual.”
