It is amazing that The Times would devote so much space to Vidal.
He is a pompous overgrown spoiled-brat, know-it-all hypocrite whose talent for abrasiveness is surpassed only by his talent for falsifying history.
If Vidal is truly alarmed, as he often claims, about the increasing superficiality of public debate in this country, he should make the greatest contribution he possibly could towards solving that problem: Move to Zimbabwe.
