All-Star Game Set at CSUN Softball Field
For the first time in their high school careers, three El Camino Real High seniors will play a softball game following a defeat.
Shortstop Darci Stehlik, second baseman Stacy Trapp and outfielder Tammy Ottino lost their first high school game this week, dropping a 13-4 decision to Sylmar in the City Section 4-A championship game. The loss ended a 73-game win streak.
The El Camino Real seniors seek a measure of redemption today at 3:30 p.m. at Cal State Northridge in the Daily News All-Star game. Stehlik, Trapp and Ottino will play for the 15-member West team that is coached by El Camino Real’s Neils Ludlow and Chuck Brown of Thousand Oaks.
Shortstop Teri Klement and first baseman Michelle Blaha, who helped Sylmar win its first City softball title since 1973, will play for the East team that is coached by Burbank’s Chris Krohn and Laramie Boyd of Verdugo Hills.
The East team features pitchers Debby Day (14-4) of Burbank, Janeen Duncan (17-5) of Alemany and Laura Fawcett (15-1) of Verdugo Hills. The West staff includes Tina Shimozo (5-2) of Chatsworth and Molly Moore (8-2), who led Thousand Oaks to the Southern Section 4-A final for the first time in school history.
