No One Made Innuendoes When Celtics Drafted Bias

I think this media hype of the “white” and therefore “racist” Boston Celtics has gone on long enough. Was I the only one watching a year ago when Boston drafted Len Bias as its first-round draft pick? Wasn’t that Red Auerbach smiling like the Cheshire cat because Boston had just acquired its hope for the future? Not the great white hope, just the hope.

No one was making racial innuendoes then and they shouldn’t be making them now. The Celtics’ starting five may be made up of two black players and three white players. But, that’s not the way the Celtics planned it.
