AT&T; Funds L.A. Arts Projects
AT&T;, the nation’s largest telecommunications firm, today donated $1 million to finance opera in Los Angeles and a first-ever international loan exhibit of artist David Hockney’s works curated by the Los Angeles County Museum of Art.
The museum will receive $850,000 and the Los Angeles Music Center Opera will receive “$100,000-plus,†AT&T; Vice President J. Kent Planck said. The Hockney retrospective is due to open in Los Angeles next Feb. 4. The rest of the donation will assist in financing a production of Richard Wagner’s opera “Tristan and Isolde†with sets by Hockney.
