Continental Airlines and United Airlines said they will match Trans World Airlines’ plan to raise domestic air fares $3 to $7. Last Thursday, TWA announced its fare hikes, citing fuel prices that had risen more than 20% between November and April. TWA said tickets on international flights would rise $8. United said it was matching TWA’s domestic increases, and “looking” at the international fare rise. Continental said it would follow suit, although without the $8 increase on international flights. The increases for all three airlines are effective with tickets written on or after June 19.
