Teacher’s Fight for Right to Fail
The problem, in my opinion, lies not with teachers like Larry Brown, but with the parents who allow their children to merely “slip by,” school boards that find it easier to “go along” and principals like Steve Summers, who, for fear of “rocking the boat,” send into the community a group of undisciplined, self-centered ne’er-do-wells mired in a morass of mediocrity.
Shame on Parkersburg! If the school board administration of the town was smart, it would promote Brown to principal and demote Summers to gym coach. With Summers’ attitude, Parkersburg would never have any winning teams.
