City Councilman Alan Viterbi, 25, was named the fourth mayor of West Hollywood and said he will make affordable housing the first priority of his year in office. Viterbi is the city’s first mayor who is not a homosexual. He won applause at his inauguration ceremony when he praised outgoing Mayor Steve Schulte for being arrested at a demonstration in Washington against the Administration’s policies relating to the acquired immune deficiency syndrome. Schulte was fined $50 and released.
