The University of California rowing team pulled to an early lead and beat Washington Huskies by more than four seconds on the Montlake Cut in Seattle.
The Golden Bears’ varsity boat finished with a time of 5:58.86, while the Huskies completed the 2,000-meter course in 6:03.01.
