Judith Ann North of Rancho Palos Verdes has been named assistant administrator at Kaiser Permanente Medical Center in Harbor City. Her responsibilities include management of the business office, medical library, food service, communications, security and volunteers. She began working at the medical center in 1978.

David Paul Butler of Rancho Palos Verdes, co-captain of the UC Berkeley men’s varsity basketball team, will receive a $2,000 National Collegiate Athletic Assn. scholarship to support his graduate studies. He is the only West Coast winner among 10 basketball players receiving scholarships nationwide. He also was among 15 California finalists for a Rhodes Scholarship. Butler, 22, is a first-year student in the Berkeley Graduate School of Business Administration.
