Mike Curran of Esperanza High School will coach the North team and Dave Demarest of La Quinta will coach the South in the 20th Orange County All-Star baseball game June 16 at Anaheim’s Glover Stadium.
Curran led Esperanza to a 25-3-1 record and the Southern Section’s 4-A division championship last season. Esperanza, named the top team in the nation last season by USA Today, is ranked No. 1 in the Orange County Sportswriters’ Assn. high school poll.
Curran will be assisted by Dave Bowman of Western and Steve Gullotti of El Dorado.
La Quinta became the first county school to clinch a league title this season when Mike Wilson pitched a no-hitter against Santiago in a Garden Grove League game last week.
Demarest will be assisted by Dan DeLeon of El Toro and Ron LaRuffa of Edison. The charity game is sponsored by the Anaheim Kiwanis Club.
