Chapman Starts Fast but Loses to Northridge, 11-5
Chapman College scored five runs in the first inning but was shut out the rest of the way as Cal State Northridge defeated the Panthers, 11-5, in a California Collegiate Athletic Assn. baseball game at Hart Park in Orange.
Chris Cutliff’s bases-loaded double drove in three runs in the first for Chapman, which batted around in the inning. But Cal State Northridge left-hander John LaRosa did not allow another hit after that, retiring 26 of the final 28 Panthers he faced. Bucky Bollinger hit his fourth home run for the Panthers (11-14, 23-27) in the first.
Mark Anderson hit a two-run home run in the third, Chris Pinsak hit a two-run home run in the seventh and Tim Rapp went 4 for 5 to lead Northridge (14-9, 32-19).
Starter Jeff Mooney (7-7) took the loss.
