Hart Kicked, Injured in Los Alamitos Fall
Kenneth Hart, the all-time leading quarter horse jockey at Los Alamitos, suffered a fractured pelvis and had his spleen removed after being thrown from his mount shortly after the start of the fourth race Tuesday night.
Hart’s mount, Pivot Tru, stumbled badly leaving the barrier and dropped the 39-year-old rider. The horse continued to run, perhaps kicking Hart. Hart was taken by track ambulance to Los Alamitos General Hospital.
Hart had been going through his worst slump ever at Los Alamitos. He has won more than 2,000 races at the track including a record 116 stakes. However, he hadn’t won in 34 races in the current meeting.
