A Soviet Bloc broadcasting group agreed to pay $1.2 million to transmit the 1988 Winter Olympics to 16 Communist countries, the International Olympic Committee said.
In February, the European Broadcasting Union paid $5.7 million for the exclusive rights to transmit the Games next February to Western Europe.
The U.S. rights, announced last year, went to ABC for $309 million.
