R.H. Estates : Building Ban Extended
A moratorium on development of two or more adjacent properties that have access on Palos Verdes Drive North has been extended by the City Council for the full 22 1/2 months allowed by law. However, City Manager Raymond B. Taylor said he expects the building restriction to be lifted by August.
The moratorium was adopted March 10 to give the city time to study the impact of proposed residential development on traffic and safety on the busy street.
According to a report by Planning Director Stephen A. Emslie, the city is particularly concerned about the closure of Dapplegray Intermediate School at 3011 Palos Verdes Drive North and the possible sale and development of the 45-acre site.
Emslie reported that a city study of land use in the area is expected to be completed in May and forwarded to the Planning Commission for recommendations. The moratorium may be rescinded once the council takes action on the study, Emslie said.
