Hungarian Jailed for Refusing Military Duty

VIENNA — A Budapest military court Monday sentenced dissident Zsolt Keszthelyi, 23, who says he is Hungary’s first political conscientious objector, to three years in prison for refusing military service, a dissident said.
Miklos Haraszti, who attended the trial, said the court also refused Keszthelyi’s call for his case to be referred to the Constitutional Council. His lawyers have appealed.
