The ICC will consider reopening a Santa Fe hearing.
A spokesman for Santa Fe Southern Pacific Corp. said the Interstate Commerce Commission has agreed to hear oral arguments May 14 on whether hearings on the company’s proposal to merge its two railroads--Santa Fe and Southern Pacific--should be reopened. “We think we have a good case,” a Santa Fe spokesman said, “and we intend to argue it.” Last July, the initial petition to merge the two lines was rejected. The company filed the request for a reopening in March.
