Queen Elizabeth Has Quiet 61st Birthday

LONDON — Queen Elizabeth II turned 61 today, marking the occasion without fanfare at her Windsor Castle home outside London, Buckingham Palace said. Her official birthday is celebrated in a June parade, taking advantage of better weather.
Prince Charles, her eldest son and heir to the throne, and his wife Diana wished her a happy birthday today before leaving on a semi-official visit to Spain, the palace said.
