Patient Survives Italy Hospital Shooting

CROTONE, Italy — Six hooded gunmen burst into a private hospital room in southern Italy on Thursday and opened fire with automatic weapons and pistols in an attempt to kill an alleged Mafia boss recovering from a previous murder bid, police said. The gunmen escaped on foot after disarming a hospital security guard.
Their intended victim, Bruno Dima, was wounded only slightly but his sister was severely hurt, the police said.
