Dana Point : Blast and Fire Damage Dry-Cleaning Plant
An explosion and fire damaged a dry-cleaning business Wednesday, but firefighters took less than 17 minutes to extinguish the blaze.
The fire began at 2:10 p.m., and witnesses reported that it was preceded by an explosion at the site, which was part of a three-unit business complex at 34118 Pacific Coast Highway, according to county Fire Department Capt. Patrick McIntosh.
There were no injuries reported in the blaze, which is still under investigation, he said.
McIntosh said 20 firefighters, four engine companies and a paramedic unit responded to the blaze, which closed Pacific Coast Highway briefly. Fire officials have not yet released estimates of the damage.
