Right-handed pitcher Craig McMurtry of the Toronto Blue Jays underwent an emergency appendectomy and was put on the 21-day disabled list. Toronto also announced that left-handed reliever Gary Lavelle had been put on the 15-day disabled list. Lavelle is attempting a comeback after a tendon transplant.
