Okerlund Pitches No-Hitter as Titans Sweep Nevada Las Vegas
Freshman Janis Okerlund pitched her first collegiate no-hitter and Connie Clark pitched a one-hitter to lead top-ranked Cal State Fullerton over Nevada Las Vegas, 3-1 and 4-2, in a Pacific Coast Athletic Assn. softball doubleheader at the Titan Softball Complex.
In the opener, Okerlund (7-1) hit catcher Jackie Weddle in the third inning to set up the Rebels’ only run. Weddle scored on a throwing error.
Fullerton gained the lead in the fifth when freshman outfielder Tiny Glomboske singled to drive in Valerie Van Kirk and Chenita Rogers.
In the second game, Clark (16-0) relieved starter Chris Gage in the fourth with the Titans trailing, 2-1.
Clark allowed only one hit the rest of the game, and Fullerton rallied with single runs in the fourth, fifth and sixth innings.
The Titans (6-0, 29-2) play host to eight-ranked Fresno State Friday. UNLV is 3-9 and 9-17.
