Community College Roundup : Golden West Loses in Softball, 3-1

Golden West pitcher Karen Nakamaru walked in two runs in the 11th inning, allowing El Camino College to defeat the Rustlers, 3-1, in a South Coast Conference softball game at Golden West.

Nakamaru (4-4) had pitched a no-hitter through six innings as Golden West (2-1, 15-7) held on to a 1-0 lead. But in the seventh, a leadoff single ended Nakamaru’s no-hitter. A steal and an error tied the score at 1-1.

All three El Camino runs were unearned.

Rancho Santiago 3, Cypress 1--Winning pitcher Dawn Robertson (3-2) struck out nine and allowed one hit to lead the Dons (6-0, 12-5) at home. Sandy Martinez was 2 for 3 with one run scored, and Lee Bladow was 2 for 3 with a double.
