A U.S. attorney leading efforts to prosecute drug smugglers, including a reputed leader of a major cocaine ring, has been under armed guard since the government learned a Colombian hit squad intended to kill him, officials said. U.S. Atty. Leon Kellner, 41, has been the key prosecutor since 1985 in South Florida, through which is smuggled an estimated 75% of the cocaine entering the United States.
