The board of directors of the Corporation for Public Broadcasting has adopted a recommendation not to pursue a proposed $300,000 study to evaluate objectivity and balance in public-TV programming. CPB Board Chairman William Lee Hanley Jr. hailed the board’s decision not to conduct the study. “I’m convinced that we’ve served CPB and public broadcasting well by this decision,” he said. “We will continue to monitor our work in providing American audiences with the highest-quality and fairest programming possible and to examine our responsibility under the congressional provision for objectivity and balance,” he said.
