Rain Washes Out Dodger Exhibition Opener

VERO BEACH, Fla. — Heavy rain and monsoon-like conditions canceled the Dodgers’ first exhibition game of spring training Saturday against the Houston Astros at Kissimmee, Fla.
If the weather improves, the Dodgers and Astros will play here today.
Orel Hershiser and Tim Leary, scheduled to pitch Saturday, will pitch today. The spring debuts of Rick Honeycutt and Alejandro Pena have been pushed back to Monday against the Baltimore Orioles at Miami.
Fernando Valenzuela’s first spring appearance will probably be on Tuesday against the Atlanta Braves.
