The cold concrete of a Washington street corner was expected to become the site of a “sleep out†Tuesday night attended by movie celebrities, congressmen and advocates for the homeless. Hoping to garner support for a $500 million emergency shelter and housing bill currently before Congress, actors Martin Sheen and Denise Quaid, activist Mitch Snyder and Reps. Joe Kennedy (D-Mass.) and Esteban Torres (D-Los Angeles) were among those expected to bed down at a heating grate across the street form the Library of Congress. In downtown Los Angeles, radio host Casey Kasem and others planned a similar sleep out at Spring and 1st streets.
