About $100,000 worth of stolen equipment was recovered after San Diego police interviewed a man they suspected of stealing a television news cameraman’s vehicle earlier in the week.
Police also recovered the insta-cam, worth about $45,000, from the vehicle used by Channel 10. Charles Johnson, 22, of East San Diego was booked into County Jail Thursday night on suspicion of possession of stolen property.
Spokesman Bill Robinson said police also recovered from a garage in the 5000 block of Federal Boulevard several cameras, sophisticated stereo equipment, briefcases, tools, custom automotive wheels and an air compressor.
Police recovered the stolen vehicle Tuesday about three blocks from Johnson’s home.
