Ups and downs: In its season-opening win over Whittier on Saturday, Cal Lutheran hit five home runs, collected 11 extra base hits and had a total of 20 hits. Two players drilled two home runs each--Ed Howard and Mike Kusmuk--and Kevin Wynn added a three-run homer.
In their 3-2 loss to Chapman on Tuesday, the Kingsmen received strong pitching from freshman Kyle Duey, who gave up two runs in six innings, and Jay Anderson, who didn’t allow a hit in three innings.
But with the score tied, 2-2, in the ninth, Chapman scored the winning run on two errors.
