TEL AVIV — Convicted American spy Jonathan Jay Pollard passed intelligence to Israel that helped it bomb the Tunisia headquarters of the Palestine Liberation Organization in October, 1985, an Israeli newspaper correspondent said Sunday.
Wolf Blitzer, the Washington correspondent of the English-language Jerusalem Post, writing for the Washington Post, quoted Israeli and American officials as saying Pollard gave the Israelis descriptions of the PLO headquarters building.
Pollard also provided American data on the capabilities of the Libyan air force and the movements of U.S., Soviet and French ships in the Mediterranean which allowed Israeli planes to evade detection during the raid, Blitzer wrote.
His information, he says, was based on his investigations into the Pollard affair over the last year and dozens of interviews.
