San Diego Tennis Tournament : USD Takes 3 of 6 Divisions

SAN DIEGO — The University of San Diego, host school for the 16th annual Intercollegiate Invitational tennis tournament, had winners in three of the six divisions in Saturday’s final round.
In singles, USD’s Scott Patridge defeated Vince Horcasitas of Cal State Long Beach, 6-3, 6-4, to win the 3-4 division, and teammate Dan Mattera won the 5-6 division by defeating Drew Denny of Long Beach, 2-6, 6-3, 6-3.
In doubles, USD’s team of Mattera and Chris Smith defeated Greg Failla and William Moravec of Long Beach, 6-3, 6-4, to win the No. 3 division.
Other winners: Miles Walker (Chapman College) defeated Kevin Gillette (Long Beach), 7-6, 7-6, in the 1-2 singles division; Gillette and Pat Crow (Long Beach) won No. 1 doubles with a 6-3, 6-3 victory over Johnny Mattice and Robert Garbell (Brigham Young University), and Julio Noriega and John Cost (San Diego State University) defeated Sennen Pamich and Robert Soneru (United States International University), 6-3, 6-4, to win No. 2 doubles.
