Houston’s Convention Bids Cost $1.1 Million

HOUSTON — Houston’s failed effort to lure the Democratic and Republican national conventions cost about $1.1 million, organizers say. More than $900,000 was spent to woo the Democrats, who last week selected Atlanta for their 1988 convention.
