Rancho Santiago Loses in Softball, 1-0

Rancho Santiago College, the two-time defending state softball champion, lost to San Diego Mesa, 1-0, in 10 innings Friday in the second round of the Rancho Santiago Tournament.
Pam Smith scored the winning run for San Diego Mesa (2-0) on an error by second baseman Lee Bladow.
Cindy Ross (1-0) pitched a complete game for San Diego Mesa. Rancho Santiago pitcher Dawn Robertson (0-1) struck out 3, walked 1 and allowed 5 hits in 10 innings.
Rancho Santiago plays Pasadena City today at 9 a.m. and San Diego Mesa advances to the championship round against Palomar today at noon.
In a first-round game:
Rancho Santiago 10, El Camino 0--Lisa Pedersen was 3 for 3, including a two-run triple in the fourth inning for the Dons.
