DETROIT — American Motors Corp. said Friday that it is recalling more than 47,000 1986- and 1987-model Jeeps for a variety of problems.
Included are 41,073 1986-model Jeep Comanche pickup trucks recalled to service the parking brake, which could release when the vehicle is loaded, the company said.
An additional 5,900 1986-model Wagoneers, Cherokees and Comanches are being recalled to check for an accelerator cable that may disconnect, causing the engine to return to idle speed.
