House Action on Pay Raise
The House has pulled off one of the sleaziest stunts ever devised to assure itself a pay raise. On Feb. 3--the last day the raise could be stopped--the House voted to adjourn on a non-rollcall vote. The next day, these cowardly sneaks “voted†to block the pay raise--24 hours too late, because the raise was already history. However, our stalwart representatives now have their alibi for future elections: They can now claim they voted against this raise.
