Orange County Prep Soccer : Esperanza Wins, 2-0, for League Title
Rick Buschini and Rick Guttierez scored second-half goals Wednesday to lead the Esperanza High School boys’ soccer team to a 2-0 win over El Dorado in an Empire League match at Esperanza.
The victory gave the Aztecs (10-1, 20-2-1) their fourth straight league championship and their ninth league shutout this season. Ranked No. 1 in the Southern Section 3-A division, Esperanza has an 85-4-9 league record during the past four seasons.
Kennedy 3, Los Alamitos 2--Mark Piening scored with 15 minutes to play to guarantee the Fighting Irish (5-3-3, 10-5-3) a playoff spot.
In the Century League:
Santa Ana 1, El Modena 1--Saint fullback Hector Tatia accidently kicked the ball into his own net 39 minutes into the second half as the Vanguards came back at El Modena.
Canyon 2, Santa Ana Valley 2--John Gefeson and Brian Lou scored for Canyon (5-1-3, 15-7-3) at Santa Ana Valley. Juan Perez scored on two penalty kicks for Santa Ana Valley.
In the Freeway League:
Sunny Hills 8, Buena Park 2--The Lancers (8-1, 13-2) won their second consecutive league championship. Abid Chaudhry and Kevin Monson each scored two goals.
Buena Park is 1-8.
In the Pacific Coast League:
Laguna Hills 10, Costa Mesa 0--Brian Fleming scored four goals to pace the first-place Hawks (7-2, 16-5-2) at Laguna Hills.
Orange 4, Woodbridge 0--Jim Vlcek scored two goals to lead Orange (6-3-0, 15-7-1) at Woodbridge (5-2-2, 9-8-2).
Laguna Beach 2, Trabuco Hills 0--Brandon Cope and Joel Smith scored for the Artists (5-5-2) at Trabuco Hills (2-7).
In the Sea View League:
Newport Harbor 2, Tustin 1--Scott Feldman scored on a penalty kick for Tustin (4-3-2) with 10 minutes remaining. The Sailors (7-2, 13-5-1) will play Corona del Mar Friday for the league championship.
Corona Del Mar 2, University 0--Torgeir Betheussen and Will Hill scored at University. The Sea Kings are 5-2-2, 8-5-3. The Trojans are 1-7-1 in league.
Estancia 2, Saddleback 1--Erin Wright scored the winning goal with 10 minutes remaining in the game. Goalkeeper Mark Tyssee made eight saves for the Eagles (4-3-1, 12-8-1). Saddleback drops to 2-4-2 in league.
In the South Coast League:
Mission Viejo 2, Irvine 0--Jeff Gagnon and Matt Keller each scored as the Diablos clinched the league championship at Irvine. Goalie Kent Horner had six saves for Mission Viejo (7-1-1, 17-4-1).
In the Sunset League:
Marina 1, Fountain Valley 0--Ben LeFrancois scored with an assist by Daren Fishman 25 minutes into the first half to lead the Vikings (7-2, 7-18) at Fountain Valley (2-5-2).

In the Orange League:
Orange Lutheran 3, Anaheim 2--The Lancers’ Kathy Anderson scored ith 10 minutes remaining as Orange Lutheran (3-4-1, 4-9-1) captured third place in league. Anaheim dropped to 0-7-1.
Valencia 2, Western 1--Debbie Laporte and Stacey Zirwas each scored first-half goals at Valencia to lead the Tigers (8-0, 15-6-1) over the Pioneers (1-4-1, 3-11-3) and the league championship.
In the Angelus League:
Mater Dei 6, Connelly 0--The Monarchs (8-1-1, 14-5-3) won their first league title.
In the Garden Grove League:
La Quinta 3, Rancho Alamitos 1--Kristin Dailey and Robin Karnes scored goals for the league-champion Aztecs in their regular-season finale.
