Soviet and Canadian amateur hockey officials met in Quebec to discuss what they called the “unacceptable†suspensions imposed on their players as a result of last month’s brawl at the World junior tournament.
A five-man disciplinary committee of the International Ice Hockey Federation voted in Vienna Monday to ban 19 players of each team from international competition between Jan. 4 and June 30 of next year. The players would then be on probation from July 1, 1988, until Dec. 31, 1989.
