Marcos Asks Nobel Panel to Ignore Aquino

OSLO — Ferdinand E. Marcos has appealed to the Norwegian Nobel Committee not to award the 1987 Nobel Peace Prize to Corazon Aquino, who succeeded him in a bloodless revolution one year ago.
“The nomination is pure blasphemy. If she gets it there will be riots back home,†Marcos said in an interview published today in the Oslo daily Verdens Gang.
