MOSCOW — Plainclothes agents backed by snowplows today broke up, for the second straight day, a demonstration on behalf of a jailed Jewish activist and roughed up Western reporters covering the protest. Police briefly detained 13 protesters.
All of those detained--seven at the protest site and six on their way there--were released after a few hours. Six, including Inna and Boris Begun, the wife and son of the jailed activist, Josef Begun, were fined about $77 for “petty hooliganism.”
