A murder suspect was shot and killed by Los Angeles police in the parking lot of a Sun Valley shopping center. Lt. Charles Higbie said the suspect, Dennis R. Hensley, 34, of North Hollywood had killed John M. Sell, 22 of Burbank with shotgun blasts and was firing indiscriminately into nearby Sun Valley Park when officers arrived in the 8000 block of Vineland Avenue. Officers chased Hensley back to the parking lot where he opened fire on them. He was hit by return fire, and died at the scene. Sell’s body was found next to a trash bin. Details of the incident were under investigation, but Higbie said the trouble evidently involved drugs or drinking.
