Cold Kills 87 in Britain

LONDON — Eighty-seven people, most of them elderly, died from hypothermia during January’s cold spell in Britain, the government said in a report to Parliament. Junior Health Minister Edwina Currie said in a report Wednesday that hypothermia, subnormal body temperature, was included on 87 death certificates between Jan. 10 and Jan. 30.
