Screen Extras Report Pact
The Screen Extras Guild today said it has reached a tentative settlement with the Alliance of Motion Picture & Television Producers in a wage dispute that a week ago prompted the first strike in the guild’s 41-year history.
The 6,000-member guild said the settlement is subject to the approval of its board, and the association’s membership, about 4,000 of whom live in Southern California. “The parties view the tentative agreement as a ‘win-win’ situation. From the producers’ standpoint, the settlement provides for reduced costs, which will increase production within the SEG zones,†the guild said. “At the same time, the settlement preserves the rate of the professional extra and will generate increased employment under the terms of the SEG agreement.â€
